Silence Is Golden and It keeps Life

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction. (Proverbs13:3)

God is love. In love He created us. In His great love He shows us what it will take us to have the goodness of life in this present life and in the life to come. God did not hesitate to declare to us his will and His desires for us. He knows our make and our weakness therefore He is always there to lead us in the way of life.

In today’s passage we are made to realize what we have to do in order to have life. The opposite of life is death or destruction. God did not hesitate to give the warning against going the other way that lead to destruction nither did He fail to make us to realize that silence is golden. To have life is to have the peace of God in our heart, to have clear conscience towards God and man to be able to approach God without any guilt or condemnation in our heart.

What we have to is to keep our mouth and have life. God didn’t make mistake in giving us the mouth. Neither Did He give it to us without a purpose. He gave us the ability to speak in order to server as encouragement and motivation to others and to worship God in the beauty of holiness.

In order to have and enjoy life we must keep our mouth from speaking evil word. But the scripture says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. We must have our heart washed with blood of Jesus before we can always say what is right. It is from the abundance of the goodness of the lord that is in our heart that we will share with others. Silence is golden and in doing this we will always be a blessing to others.

On many common occasions we have seen that the wrong use of mouth had led to many problems. Many homes had broken; many businesses had collapsed while even nation had risen against other nation in arms because of some reckless utterances. No wonder the bible says that he the opens his mouth wide will have destruction.

We can imagine the colossal loss that had resulted through the wrong use of this great gift of God. It is our earnest prayer that God will help us to use our mouth in the way that will result into blessing in our life. May God help us to know that Silence is golden and it has a rich blessing
