Children of God; Those That Are Born of the Spirit
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
(Rom 8:16)
The issue of attaining to the status of being called to as one of the children of God had been controversial in religious circle from time immemorial. It is so serious that some felt that it is sacrilegious to say so. This had even formed a main thrust of their believe. But thank God we believe the word of God and we know that whatever God says he is able to do.
Amongst those that even believe that there exists the rank and file of people that could be called the children of God very few can attest to the fact that at a particular time they were born into God’s family. Majority has the mental acceptance of the transformation.
We are told in the bible that “As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” That is the simple way of becoming part of the household of God and become one of the children of God.
This is not just mentally accepting the passage and tries to personalize it to oneself. It is more than just proclaiming the promise and claiming that the work is done. Rather it is the transformation of the heart. When you believe the passage you come to God with your load of sin. You confess and renounce them and then ask Jesus to come in to your heart.
Having done this the spirit of God will bear witness with your spirit that you had become one of the children of God. At this point you will know. You can tell the world that God had transformed you life. You can give your testimony of transformation to any one who cares to listen. The change is so radical that it will be notice by whosoever come across you.
It is obvious that from that time you will abhor every thing that has to do with sin. Your life will be a book to be read by those you interact with. You will project the image of Christ where ever you are. You don’t need to tell anybody that you are a Christian, but your conduct will show you. You don’t need to refer to yourself as a child of God but the spirit that testify to your spirit will proclaim that you are special breed and that you are one of the children of God.
It is our earnest prayer that if you are yet to have this witness in your heart may God grant you toady. May your name be written in the book of that redeemed of the lord. Those that are sure of having benefited from the transforming power of God and that are of the rank and file of the children of God.
