Christ the Bread of Life
I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Hunger is one of the stimuli that show sign of living. If you are not physically hungry it is a sign of ill health and you have to take drastic action to correct it. It is sure that if you are not hungry definitely you will not have appetite. It is the same thing spiritually. The only spiritual food that satisfy is the bread of life
No wonder Jesus said “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” If you have spiritual hunger you are blessed. It is a sign of spiritual growth and good health. Just as it is in physical realm the next thing is for you to be fed the bread of life
Physically your growth is a function of what type of food you feed upon. The more nutritious the food the faster you rate of growth, your state of heath and your body built. If you feed of just anything that you come by to fill your tummy sooner or later you will see that it will affect your state of health.
In the same dimension spiritually, Jesus is the only spiritual food that can give you life. Jesus is the bread of life. In him alone can you get what will make your spirit to grow in the love of God. We are told in the scripture that the word became flesh and dwells with us. We behold his glory as the glory of the only son of God and he is the living bread of life
Bible is the written word of God. Jesus is the word that of God that became flesh and dwell with us. For our spiritual growth we have to eat the word of God. We have to live our live within the scope of the word of God. In as much as we will need some explanation of the word, we must be wary of any explanation that will not draw us closer to holiness.
He said that “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” This is the sure formula to keep alive spiritually. The blessing avails when we continually and consistently feed on the bread of life God Bless you.
