Forgiveness of Sin-Gift Of God to those That Seek for His Mercy
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall have mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)
Christ came into the world to die for sinners. This is well proclaimed message all over the ages. He had shed his blood and had given his life as a ransom to redeem mankind from the fall. Virtually every professing Christian is aware of this statement of fact.
The next issue to be seriously considered is if you as an individual had partook of this provision. Can you say confidently that this blood had been applied across your heart? It is when you have this personal testimony that you can say really Christ had died for me.
Are you sure of your name being written in the book of life of the lamb? Had your record in heaven moved from the book of work to the book of life? Be very cautious and take this very serious because this is the only way to have the benefit of his death.
If you cannot answer any of these questions in affirmative, today’s’ passage is to your rescue. Stop covering your sins. The passage said that he that covers his sins will not prosper. I am sure you want to prosper.
The next thing for you to do is to confess those sins. You know what you do that your conscience convicts you about. You don’t need to tell any body but to the Lord. Confess them to him and to him alone with pleading for forgiveness.
Confessing the sin alone is not enough but you must forsake them with the promise never to go back to them again. If this is done conscientiously the answer is that you will receive mercy. That is the word of God and it cannot be changed.
If you just follow this simple formula, confess your sins, forsake them, never to go back to them again and you will have the mercy of God. When you have the assurance of God’s mercy then you have the benefit of Christ atonement in your life.
It is my earnest prayer today that as you take the step of faith may the joy of heaven be your as the spirit of God grants you the mercy of GOD.
